John Faulks deals with numbers not law. Unlike the other famous John Faulks of Canberra (Family Court of Australia Judge), we are lucky to have this John Faulks as our Senior Manager at Nexis Accountants and Business Advisors for three years, come August. But how well do you know our John Faulks? We interviewed him this month so you can get to know more about the real John Faulks.
John, you’re in an elevator and you have 2 stops until you arrive at your client’s floor to describe your role, go for it…
As a Senior Manager, I mentor staff, review their accounting work and am the main point of contact for our individual tax return clientele. I am also a second point of contact for many of our clientele should the director not be available.
Where’s your favourite place in the world?
The Great Barrier Reef.
Which I think has something do with the animal you most want to be, right?
Yep I would be a shark. I love the ocean and like the idea of being top of the food chain.
What’s your favourite movie?
What’s your secret talent that no one knows about?
I enjoy propagating and cultivating plants (not illegal ones!!)
What is your favourite family tradition?
Driving with my family to look at decorations on Christmas Eve. It’s a great time to be in Canberra.
Who is your least favourite superhero and why?
The Hulk. I don’t like him when he’s angry.
Are you a morning person or a night owl?
A night owl. However, now I have a young family I am being forced to become a morning person.
And don’t leave us hanging, give us your best accounting tip?
Sorry I broke the rules and gave you two…
Tip 1: Before you do anything, it is worth a quick chat with your accountant. It can save you a considerable amount of time and money in the future.
Tip 2: Take advantage of the Fringe Benefit Tax (FBT) exemptions that are available.
