Senior Accountant

Location: Canberra & Brisbane
Job status: Full-time

The Role

You will be a key member of our team, delivering high-quality taxation, accounting and compliance services across a diverse client portfolio. The role requires strong technical skills, confident communication, and the ability to liaise effectively with clients, the ATO, ASIC and other stakeholders. You will also provide practical insights to support business outcomes, assist managers and directors, and help mentor junior staff. About you:

We are seeking a highly motivated and technically skilled accountant who takes pride in delivering work accurately, efficiently, and on time. You will thrive in a team environment, communicate effectively, and demonstrate strong organisational skills with exceptional attention to detail.

You will also have the following:

  • Minimum 4 years accounting experience in business services;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to build great rapport with staff and clients alike;
  • Ability to work efficiently under pressure and ability to adhere to externally driven deadlines (by the ATO), and internally driven deadlines (by stakeholders);
  • Highly motivated individual with the ability to work independently with minimal supervision, problem solve, and take initiative;
  • Ability to prioritise your work given time and budget deadlines;
  • Ability to demonstrate ownership of your duties and client tasks, exhibiting a high level of attention to detail and accuracy and, crucially, an ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks;
  • Experience with or exposure to the direct involvement in the affairs of clients;
  • Passion for growth and learning, ability and/or open-mindedness to grow their technical and soft skills as well as mentor younger/more junior staff; and
  • CA Qualified, or near completion your CA program 

Technical skills:

  • Strong knowledge of Australian Income tax laws and legislations 
  • Experience with the preparation of financial statements and income tax returns for individuals, companies, trusts, and partnerships, Div7A issues, FBT, GST, and CGT
  • Experience with Xero or an understanding of the software, including the ability to prepare financial statements, as well as assist our clients using Xero.
  • Experience with SMSFs is favourable but not essential – ability to prepare financial statements and tax returns for Self-Managed Superannuation Funds
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite
  • Qualification in Accounting

The Role

We are seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly organised Client Team Administrator (CTA) to support our accounting and bookkeeping teams. This is a high-level, fast-paced role designed for an individual with a proven track record of excellence in administration work and supporting multiple teams, ideally in professional services. This role offers a dynamic and engaging opportunity where no two days are the same, which requires versatility and adaptability. You are part of our Client Delivery Team (CDT), working alongside other administrators and managers to provide essential support to our directors and accounting and bookkeeping teams, ensuring timely and smooth delivery of client services and compliance projects You will seamlessly move between liaising with clients and the ATO, supporting and processing compliance activities, corporate compliance, and managing the constantly evolving and busy workflow and schedules.

  • Has the ability to think and work fast to support a busy internal team through the use of multiple system platforms;

  • Is comfortable with (and experienced in) dealing with clients and managers;
  • Has experience in answering phones and handling switchboards;
