Senior Accountant (Canberra)

The role

  • Prepare financial statements and tax returns for a diverse range of clients including Companies, Superannuation Funds, Trusts, Partnerships and Individuals
  • Prepare Accounts and associated work-papers / statutory returns, including BAS, IAS and FBT
  • Work closely in high performing teams alongside Managers and Partners;
  • Research and interpret Tax legislation
  • Assist Managers and Partners with business advisory engagements
  • Assist in managing a portfolio of clients – autonomously liaising directly with clients and being the main point of contact for client queries.

About you

  • CA/CPA qualifications or close to completion
  • 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Up to date knowledge of taxation legislation

Although not essential we will be especially keen to hear from those with some experience in any or all of: writing technical advice to clients, a familiarity with Project Management principles, exposure to tax returns for the SME and High Net Worth Individual segments and preparing compliant general purpose financial reports / consolidations.

Junior Accountant (Canberra)

The role

  • Assist our teams in supporting engagements, preparing financial statements and tax returns for a diverse client base that includes companies, superannuation funds, trust and partnerships
  • Work closely in an on the job learning role with Managers and Partners
  • Desk research 
  • Assist Managers and Partners with everyday business advisory engagements

Receptionist / Practice Assistant (Canberra)

The role

We are looking for a full-time Receptionist / Practice Assistant to work at our offices in Canberra.

This is a varied role split between reception and administrative duties. This is truly a role where you will never be bored, and where you will be a critical part of our brand as the voice and face of Nexis to our clients. You will also make a significant contribution to the smooth running of our Canberra office. 

Outside of front of house duties, such as hosting clients and handling switchboard, you will be a key part of the Practice Support effort managing a range of tasks as varied as managing marketing mailboxes, general record keeping, firmwide diary management, supporting projects, and ad-hoc liaison with clients, suppliers and other Nexis team members in WA and QLD.

About you

Ideally, you will have been in a similar role with at least 2 years of reception experience including hosting clients. A previous similar role within an Accounting or other professional services firm will be viewed favourably.

You will be:

  • Year 12 educated and have Australian citizenship or permanent residency, with at least 2 years of working experience within an office environment.
  • An excellent communicator on the telephone, able to work a switchboard.
  • Friendly and approachable, with good IT skills
  • Advanced organisational and collaborative skills.
  • Outcome focused when handling tasks, with a strong work ethic and an ability to take initiative, priding yourself on the quality of your work. 
  • Highly discreet and you relish doing a great job by managing your time well with your proven ability to manage a busy and varied workload.

Exposure to accounting software such as Xero and MS Office, with good typing skills will be highly valued.

 

Executive Assistant (Brisbane)

The role

Due to growth in Brisbane, we are now looking to expand our team by hiring an Executive Assistant to support our frantically busy Director.

This is an exciting and varied role where you will never be bored. As a critical part of our practice support and client delivery teams, this is a challenging blend of proactively supporting the director in Brisbane, and ensuring that the office runs smoothly. There are also added dimensions of supporting the marketing efforts within the Brisbane market as well as collaborating with team members based in Canberra, WA and overseas. 

The role is full time and office based.

There will be no typical day as you move between consulting with clients and the ATO, supporting compliance efforts, chasing documents and helping run the office, whilst managing the ever-changing and always-full diary of the director.

About you

Ideally, you have had a similar EA role within an accounting or wealth management practice or have experience in an administrative support role and are looking to step up to an EA position.

You will be:

  • Year 12 educated and have Australian citizenship or permanent residency. with at least 5 years of experience within office / client administration.
  • IT savvy with superior communication and an Outlook whizz..
  • Highly organised, with a strong work ethic and display high levels of emotional intelligence .
  • Able to take initiative, ultimately making daily action-decisions that free up the director’s time.
  • Highly discreet, and you relish doing a great job by managing your time well, with your proven ability to handle a busy and varied workload.

Exposure to accounting software such as Xero, with good typing and well-developed Word and Excel skills are highly valued.

Client Team Administrator (Canberra)

The role

We are looking for a full-time Client Team Administrator to work at our offices in Canberra.

In this varied role, you will support 2 busy client teams responsible for the timely delivery of our services owning many of the teams’ daily tasks and play a key role in the firm’s essential compliance projects.

As the administrative support between directors, their EAs and our Accountancy and bookkeeping client teams, based across ACT, QLD, WA and overseas, you will be pivotal to ensuring client success. 

Daily duties range from ensuring tax returns are lodged on time to the ATO, through to managing queries from customers and acting as an internal resource to ensuing that workflow is running smoothy

You will deal directly with clients and external agencies such as the ATO with many of your tasks directly chargeable to clients.

About you

Ideally, you will have at least 2 years administrative client-focused experience within an accounting or other professional services firm, or within a bank or financial service institution. You are comfortable dealing with a variety of internal and external stakeholders using IT systems to meet their needs.

You will be:

  • Year 12 educated and have Australian citizenship or permanent residency, with at least 2 years of working experience within an office environment.
  • An excellent communicator on the telephone, friendly and approachable
  • Highly organised and able to work to deadlines collaboratively in an organised and structured manner
  • Outcome focused when handling tasks, with a strong work ethic and an ability to take initiative, priding yourself on the quality of your work. 
  • Highly discreet and relish doing a great job by managing your time well with your proven ability to manage a busy and varied workload.
  • Able to meet financial targets set for you.
