Senior Accountant (Brisbane)

Nexis Accountants & Business Advisors are seeking an experienced and exceptional individual for the position of full time Senior Accountant for our new scenic Brisbane office located in Milton.

Our new office overlooks the Brisbane River, is close to public transport yet offers a range of affordable parking options. This role is a unique opportunity which will see you work closely with the Director to grow the clientele in the Brisbane office.

What your new role will involve:

  • Preparing financial statements and tax returns for a diverse range of clients including Companies, Superannuation Funds, Trusts, Partnerships and Individuals;
  • Preparation of Accounts and associated work-papers, preparation of statutory returns, including BAS, IAS and FBT;
  • Working closely with Managers and Partners and the wider team across both Canberra and Brisbane offices;
  • Researching and interpreting Tax legislation;
  • Assisting Managers and Partners with business advisory engagements; and
  • Managing a portfolio of clients – autonomously liaising directly with clients and being the main point of contact for client queries.

What our ideal candidate will offer us: 

  • CA or CPA qualifications or near completion;
  • Demonstrated client management experience with a strong focus on proactive communication;
  • Demonstrated experience working closely with team members in dispersed and/or remote locations and teams;
  • 3+ years of experience in a professional services firm including demonstrated capability in meeting Key Performance indicators (KPI), set budgets and project timelines;
  • Up to date knowledge of taxation legislation;
  • Professionally driven, takes initiative and is client focused;
  • Strong IT skillset;
  • Team player.

Bookkeeping Manager (Canberra)

Nexis Accountants & Business Advisors are seeking an experienced and exceptional individual for the position of Bookkeeping Manager for our firm in Belconnen. While we would prefer an applicant committed to a full time position, part time hours will also be considered.

We require an experienced people manager to lead our bookkeeping team to deliver premium service to our valued clients. What your new role will involve

  • Managing a growing team of bookkeepers including workflow oversight, Work In Progress (WIP) management and capacity management;
  • Proactively managing our valued bookkeeping clientele;
  • Working closely with Directors, Managers and the wider team to exceed client expectations and deliver premium service;
  • Sound knowledge in the following with an ability to train and mentor those within your team:
    • Accounts Payable (AP);
    • Accounts Receivable (AR);
    • Payroll and Superannuation;
    • Banking;
    • BAS;
    • General Ledger;
    • Taxes;
    • Reporting; and
    • Financial administration.

To stand out from the many applications we receive, you will need:

  • CA or CPA qualification with experience within a professional services firm;
  • Demonstrated experience in people management including workflow oversight, WIP management and capacity management;
  • Demonstrated client management capability including the ability to build and maintain client relationships to exceed client expectations;
  • Sound knowledge of Xero and MYOB to that of an advanced level;
  • Understanding and experience in third party add on applications. E.g Spotlight reporting, Receipt Bank etc.
  • Demonstrated experience in the full suite of bookkeeping services including, but not limited to payroll, superannuation, AR and AP, banking, BAS, PAYG, reporting and financial administration.
  • To be highly organised with the ability to manage multiple clients simultaneously with minimal supervision;
  • To be professionally driven and client focused;
  • Exceptional problem-solving ability; and
  • Exceptional IT skillset including the understanding of automation processes.
